In September, the club takes us to two relatively unknown regions in the wine scene of Spain and Italy: Murcia and Piedmont.
The Bizarría project, promoted by Vicente Ovejero, aims to promote the native varieties of the Murcia region and its diversity of terroirs with Mediterranean influences, with scarce rainfall, hot summers and mild temperatures throughout the year, generating surprising wines such as Bizarría Malvasía Orange.
In the forgotten Piedmontese hills of Monferrato, Cascina Tavijn has been making wines for over a century, now under the direction of Nádia Verrua, the fourth generation of the family to run the winery. Characterised by sandy soil and strong thermal amplitudes between summer and winter, the Barbera, Grignolino and Ruché varieties coexist with hazelnut trees, leaving Nádia room to experiment with varieties on the verge of extinction, such as the Slarina del Toc#1.
Two wines outside the conventional canons to explore surprising regions on your return from vacation.
