Peaks box

Peaks box
The Peaks box takes us on a trip to the mountains, with altitude being the common characteristic of both Abril wines.
We start in Italy, in Belluno, a town at the foot of the Dolomites in the Veneto region. Alex della Vecchia has his vineyards there, a benchmark in the production of low-intervention wines in the region, which he learned from Ernesto Caddel, founder of the legendary Costadillà Winery. The altitude of around 600 metres helps his wines have a fresh profile and low alcohol, betting on a concept of less is more, where the main protagonist is the terroir and its grapes.
The journey continues to the Alpujarra of Granada, in the Sierra de la Contraviesa, where Manuel Valenzuela settled in 1979 and founded Barranco Oscuro. At its highest point, the vineyards reach 1,368 metres in altitude, in a terroir with little organic matter, working with native varieties of the area and introducing some varieties adapted to these extreme conditions. Manuel is unanimously recognised as one of the pioneers of the “free wines” movement in Spain and with his work he has managed to change the paradigm of the region. Where low-quality wines were once produced for local consumption, it has become one of the most stimulating and unique regions in the entire peninsula.
A tall box to enjoy in April!
